Draft Kings Week 4: Best Bargains at Each Position

The best way to cash on weekly fantasy football sites is to load up on as many stars with good matchups as possible. Due to budget restraints, however, fantasy players must sacrifice other positions to nab the stars they want.

Here, you'll find the top bargains at each position on Draft Kings that will let you splurge elsewhere. And remember, scoring is IMPORTANT. Here is Draft Kings’ scoring system.

The bargains are listed in the order I like them.

Quarterbacks

Deshaun Watson, Texans ($5,100): Watson has increased his rushing attempts in each of his first three games, averaging 54 yards on the ground over his last two. Rushing ability like that is so valuable in this format, where passing touchdowns are worth four points instead of six. He’s up against a soft Tennessee defense, so the rushing output will be there. The key to an explosion is if we see the version of Watson who threw for 125 yards in Week 2, or 301 in Week 3. If the latter shows up, you’ll likely be seeing a little green money bag next to your name.

Trevor Siemian, Broncos ($5,200): Siemian burned everyone last week, which is great news for you. His price stayed very low, and now you get him cheap against the Raiders’ defense which has been disappointing in 2017. Even last week when he threw two interceptions and zero touchdowns, Siemian still amassed 259 yards, which is more than you think with the current QB landscape. He still has Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders to throw to, and he ain’t afraid to scramble either.

Josh McCown, Jets ($4,500): Full disclosure, I don’t think Josh McCown is good. He’s a starting QB, however, and I’m not sold that the Jaguars have the No. 1 pass defense in the NFL like they’re currently ranked. When I see starters going for the price of backups – that’s McCown in Week 4! – then I like to bring them to your attention. McCown’s not going to be the reason you win; he just might be good enough to not cause you to lose, and he’ll let you load up on explosive RBs and WRs.

Running Backs

Bilal Powell, Jets ($4,600): Powell’s been a humongous disappointment in season-long leagues, but he’s going to be a sneaky play in DFS this week. Powell’s explosion last season, which is what caused his ADP to spike in preseason, was due largely to a huge workload once veteran Matt Forte succumbed to injury. This week, Forte is going to be out with an ankle injury, leaving Powell to soak up all the work. And believe it or not, this suddenly exciting Jaguars defense has a fatal flaw. Per FootballOutsiders.com, the Jaguars rank DEAD LAST against the run. Believe it. And draft Powell this week.

Chris Johnson, Cardinals ($4,200): Johnson hasn’t looked great in his two weeks as David Johnson’s replacement, but he remains in line to get the lion’s share of carries. Kerwynn Williams has fallen out of favor, and Andre Ellington doesn’t have the faith of his coaches that he won’t break in half with more carries, leaving Johnson to plug away at one of the NFL’s worst defenses.

Alvin Kamara, Saints ($3,900): Kamara at this point is just a pass-catching back, but in New Orleans that’s relevant. Kamara still has to battle Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson for snaps, but this week expect Kamara to matter. They’ll be up against the Dolphins, the worst pass defense in the NFL, which ranks 30th vs. RBs in the passing game. Splurge somewhere else, and throw him in there as a cheap FLEX.

Wide Receivers

Rishard Matthews, Titans ($4,900): Corey Davis is already ruled out, meaning Matthews is the same old target hound from a year ago who saved people’s seasons. Last week he saw 10 targets, reeling in six for 67 yards and a TD. Matthews’ opponent, the Texans, rank in the bottom third of the NFL vs. No. 1 receivers, so look for Matthews to play well and probably score.

Allen Hurns, Jaguars ($4,700): Hurns hasn’t quite turned into a target monster, even with Allen Robinson done for the season. But he has scored in back-to-back weeks, and you can count on him finding the end zone again vs. the Jets.

Kenny Stills, Dolphins ($4,300): Be mindful of Stills’ hand injury, because it’s possible he misses this week, but if he’s in the lineup he’s liable to catch a long touchdown. Stills caught a TD in Miami’s first game, and saw 10 targets in Week 2 vs. the Jets. Stills has another cake matchup this week vs. the Saints, so he’s a high-ceiling option without the super-low floor of players like Ted Ginn.

Tight Ends

Eric Ebron, Lions ($3,100): Ebron is never going to be a consistent playmaker like we thought we’d see when he was taken 10th overall in 2014, but Ebron can put in work with the right matchup. That’s why I’d recommend seizing the day with him in Week 4, despite putting up fewer than 10 receiving yards in two of his three 2017 games. The Vikings are currently ranked 29th vs. TEs through three games, and that’s ideal for an athletic weapon like Ebron to rack up points.

Jesse James, Steelers ($3,000): James is not that talented of a TE, so this is a pure matchup play. So much success in DraftKings is matchups, so don’t be afraid to pull the trigger on a lesser light in a great situation. James has seen eight, five and four targets, respectively, in his three games so he’s involved in the offense. The Ravens’ offense ranks dead last against opposing tight ends. That’s all you need to know.

Austin Hooper, Falcons ($3,300): Hooper is a TD-dependent TE who has not seen more than two targets in any of Atlanta’s first three games. At the same time, he has a very nice matchup vs. the Bills this week, and he’s too talented to continue to be completely ignored by Matt Ryan. Hooper might get some looks this week with the plus matchup, and especially if WR Julio Jones isn’t 100% right with his back.
