Draft Kings Week 7: Best Bargains At Each Position
The best way to cash on weekly fantasy football sites is to load up on as many stars with good matchups as possible. Due to budget restraints, however, fantasy players must sacrifice other positions to nab the stars they want.
Here, you'll find the top bargains at each position on Draft Kings that will let you splurge elsewhere. And remember, scoring is IMPORTANT. Here is Draft Kings’ scoring system.
The bargains are listed in the order I like them.
Quarterbacks
Joe Flacco, Ravens ($5,800): Flacco has failed most weeks to post huge numbers, but even though he’s on the road this week, he can’t have a better matchup. The Jets rank fifth vs. the run and dead last in the NFL against the pass. Couple that with Flacco’s usage – he’s thrown at least 40 passes in every game since Week 1 – and he has very high upside.
Colin Kaepernick, 49ers ($5,300): Kaepernick threw for 186 yards and a score last week, which is pretty pedestrian. This week I expect a little but more against a soft Tampa Bay defense; I also expect Kaepernick to continue running well. He chewed up 66 yards last week on seven carries, and there’s no reason for that kind of output to go down.
Geno Smith, Jets ($5,000): As usual, a starting quarterback available for a backup price makes the list. Let me be clear: Geno Smith is a very bad quarterback. However, he’s starting, he will complete passes, and he does have Brandon Marshall at his disposal. He’s also surprisingly effective on the ground, and a rushing score is in play.
Running Backs
Devonta Freeman, Falcons ($5,900): Freeman has done very well this year while ceding some of his work to Tevin Coleman, and he’s done it through efficiency; specifically Freeman is averaging five yards per carry. The Chargers have the 21st-ranked run defense, and the Falcons’ offense is arguably the most lethal in the NFL. Freeman is also seeing sufficient targets in the passing game, which is rewarded by Draft Kings.
Matt Jones, Redskins ($4,200): Jones is up against a Lions defense that has been nothing short of pathetic most weeks. Jones has been able to feast on weak run defenses, and has struggled mightily against staunch ones. The Lions rank 26th vs. the run, so expect Jones to put up Top 10 RB numbers for a borderline backup price.
Matt Asiata, Vikings ($3,500): Asiata has been the Vikings RB to own, even if Jerick McKinnon is out-snapping him. The Eagles are showing cracks, and their Top 10 defense is only ranked 15th against the run. Asiata won’t blow them away, but he’ll likely get in the end zone at least once.
Wide Receivers
Jarvis Landry, Dolphins ($6,800): He’s a tad expensive for this list, but his matchup can’t be ignored. The Bills are red-hot, but they rank 29th against No. 1 receivers. Landry is exactly that, and has Top 5 receiver upside this week. In a PPR format you want Landry on your lineup this week.
Mike Wallace, Ravens ($5,800): Wallace is the Jets’ worst nightmare. They’ve been brutalized this year by receivers whose best skill is running straight past defenders. See what Marquise Goodwin and Sammie Coates have done to them. This is Wallace’s specialty, and he’s paired up with Flacco, who has arguably the best deep ball in the sport.
Allen Hurns, Jaguars ($5,000): Hurns is a steady contributor every week – 40+ receiving yards in every game this year – and he gets to face off with the Raiders’ fourth-worst pass defense. He’s seen double-digit targets twice this year, and if this is a shootout he’s going to see the end zone.
Tight Ends
Travis Kelce, Chiefs ($5,300): It’s time for Kelce to put up or shut up. He’s had 32 yards or fewer in back-to-back games, and he’s been largely disappointing. That said, he is facing the Saints, a bottom-feeding defense that are especially poor (25th) vs. tight ends.
Martellus Bennett, Patriots ($4,500): The Steelers have been very good against tight ends this year, but the problem facing them is that Bennett is New England’s second tight end. No team has the horses to take on both tight ends, and when Pittsburgh devotes resources to controlling Gronk, Bennett is going to explode.
Tyler Eifert, Bengals ($4,400): Eifert’s status must be monitored, but if he suits up, he gets to face the 30th-ranked defense against tight ends in the league. Believe Andy Dalton will force feed his big man in the red zone. Eifert is a phenomenal play, but there’s a huge risk he’s not on the field.
